How to Navigate Rental Assistance Programs

This resource does not require you to have an eviction notice. Find your local Rent Navigator by searching for "legal aid" on VirginiaNavigator.org. all Or, call the statewide number for legal aid: 1-866-LEGLAID.

You can also go ahead and apply to the Virginia Rent Relief Program. This statewide program offers financial assistance for rent payments past due beginning April 1, 2020 and onward. Find out if you're eligible and access the application here.

Then, search for other local resources. Virginia counties and cities, as well as some nonprofits, often have their own programs to help renters. Search for "rent assistance," or anything else you may need, on VirginiaNavigator.org.
